Rukhsar Jaffer is an award winning freelance photographer and illustrator who is often involved with non-profit organizations. She is an artist member of the Guelph Arts Council (GAC) and has sat on GAC’s Communications and Members Committee.
Puns and alternative perspectives inspire much of her art. In addition to editorial and lifestyle portraits, Rukhsar also photographs sporting events, concerts, performances, parties, and weddings. She has also been commissioned for various graphic art and design projects. Through her work, she believes in helping people capture their special moments. You’ll often find her saying “Picture that!” short for "Let's take a picture of that!"
Rukhsar has photographed events including Canadian Ismaili Games, DesiFest, PanAm games, Art on the Street, and Doors Open Guelph. She enjoys photographing the candid action and emotions of teams like the Royal City Roller Girls and bands like Delhi2Dublin.
Her work has been published in The Ismaili Canada Magazine, Scarborough Arts: The Big Art Book, and numerous online platforms. Rukhsar’s work has been in various Wall of Art exhibitions at the Guelph Civic Museum, Portraits of Resilience at the AGO, and has repeatedly been a part of the Group Exhibition of Artists presented by ART@ebar in Guelph. She was the winner of the Ryerson University myGRADmoment contest in April 2021 and received an Honorable Mention in March 2022.
When Rukhsar is not busy capturing moments, you can find her working in healthcare management, knitting, reading, playing with children, eating cookies, or tweeting.
All RJP profits are currently donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
